Stacy Holden

Please join me in congratulating Stacy E. Holden, associate professor of history, for winning a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award for spring 2019.

Stacy will travel to Morocco to conduct research for her book, History and Nostalgia in Edith Wharton’s Morocco. The book will trace Wharton’s trip to Morocco during World War I. Stacy intends to use the exotic descriptions in Wharton's travelogue, In Morocco, as a starting point for understanding American engagement with the Arab world and the lives of colonized Moroccans.

The English department at Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Tetouan will act as host institution, but Stacy will also visit libraries and archives in Casablanca, Tangier, Rabat, and Marrakesh.

Approximately 800 U.S. citizens teach, conduct research, and work as advisors abroad each year through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. Established in 1946, the Fulbright Program selects recipients by virtue of their academic and professional achievement, record of service, and demonstrated leadership in their fields.

Congratulations, Dr. Holden!
