Fenggang Yang

Please join me in congratulating Fenggang Yang, professor of sociology and director of the Center on Religion and Chinese Society, for having the Korean translation of his book, Religion in China: Survival and Revival Under Communist Rule (Oxford University Press, 2012), selected as Outstanding Book of the Year by the National Academy of Sciences in Korea.

The Korean-language translation of the book, which was published in 2017 by Dasan Publishing Co. (translated by Francis Jae-ryong Song and Kwangsuk Yoo), will now be made available to all university and public libraries in South Korea.

In addition, Fenggang’s new book, Atlas of Religion in China: Social and Geographical Contexts (Brill, 2018), is scheduled to be published in October.

In June and July, Fenggang visited Singapore to participate in a writing workshop and to attend the inaugural conference of the East Asian Society for the Scientific Study of Religion. As founding president of the new association, he delivered a presidential address on the social scientific study of religion in the Global East.

Congratulations, Professor Yang!
