Daniel Morris

Please join me in congratulating Daniel Morris, professor of English, comparative literature, and Jewish Studies, who was recently elected president of the Reception Studies Society. The Society promotes informal and formal exchanges between scholars in several related fields and a much-needed cross-dialogue among all areas of reception studies, a field that emphasizes how literary or scholarly works are received by readers over different historical periods.

Daniel also published his new book, Not Born Digital, in July with Bloomsbury Publishing. The book, an exploration of the relation between literature and digital culture, addresses the difficulties and potential of disseminating lyrics, an ancient form for transmission and preservation of the human voice, in a digital environment. In Not Born Digital, Daniel explores innovative contemporary page poets who repurpose obscure and discarded historical material to create works that grapple with electronic and new media sources.

Congratulations, Professor Morris!
