Arkady Plotnitsky

Please join me in congratulating Arkady Plotnitsky, professor of English and Philosophy and Literature as well as Director of the Theory and Cultural Studies program, for his most recently published work, The Principles of Quantum Theory, From Planck's Quanta to the Higgs Boson (Springer, 2016).

The book considers foundational thinking in quantum theory, focusing on the role the fundamental principles and principle thinking there, including thinking that leads to the invention of new principles, which is, Arkady contends, one of the ultimate achievements of theoretical thinking in physics and beyond. He also addresses, in Heidegger’s famous phrase, “the question concerning technology” in mathematics, physics, and philosophy.

Congratulations, Dr. Plotnitsky!
