Purdue Theatre

Purdue Theatre has been recognized as the top theatre program in Indiana by OnStage, a theatre blog based in New Haven, Connecticut, on its 2015 list of the Best Theatre Colleges in Every State. The Department of Theatre in the Patti and Rusti Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts was especially noted for its outstanding sound design program, which includes an undergraduate major in sound for the performing arts and an MFA program in sound design. Students are trained in a fully equipped digital recording studio and apply their skills by producing Purdue Theatre shows. Alumni of the program have worked as sound designers for National Public Radio’s All Things Considered, the Las Vegas Blue Man Group, and Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre.

Please join me in congratulating our colleagues in the Department of Theatre, especially Michael McNamara, associate professor and department chair, and Rick Thomas, professor and coordinator of design and production. I also offer special thanks to Associate Dean Joel Ebarb for his outstanding leadership of the Department of Theatre over the past several years.
