Randy Roberts

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Randy Roberts, distinguished professor of history, for the publication of his newest book, Ronald Reagan, by Thunder Bay Press. The book, a condensed biography including 10 short chapters, is coauthored by David Welky, a professor of history at the University of Central Arkansas, and deals with former President Reagan as an actor and radio announcer, and later, governor and president. The book contains over 150 images representing the life and career of Ronald Reagan, including a facsimile of a ticket to his inauguration ball as well as posters from his campaign. It is set to be released November 15, 2015.

Randy is currently the Charles Boal Ewing Chair of Military History at West Point for the 2015–2016 school year. He has also completed his next book, Blood Brothers: The Fatal Friendship Between Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X. This project, cowritten with Johnny Smith, assistant professor of history at Georgia Tech, is supported by a fellowship from CLA’s Center for Humanistic Studies and will be published by Basic Books in February 2016. For his next project, Randy has begun a book that examines baseball in the 1950s. He has previously written several books on modern American history and mass culture, including works about Joe Louis, John Wayne, and Charles Lindbergh.  We was also honored in 2006 as Indiana’s Professor of the Year, an award administered by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Congratulations on your accomplishments, Professor Roberts!
