Kim Gallon

Please join me in congratulating Kim Gallon, assistant professor of history, who is the recipient of two recent awards.  She has received an ACLS Digital Innovation Fellowship from The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) and is among a select group of seven awardees who will pursue digital scholarship during the 2015-16 year.  Her project is titled “The Black Press Born-Digital Project.”   In the words of the ACLS:   “ACLS’s Digital Innovation Fellowships support scholars employing sophisticated computational methods to open new avenues of inquiry into complex humanistic problems.”  Additionally, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded her a Black Metropolis Research Consortium Short-Term Fellowship to continue her research on the history of the black press in the United States. The short-term fellowship will be completed this summer in archives in Chicago.
