Funding

With appropriate financial planning, any Purdue student can participate on a study abroad program!

Location and program type both impact the cost of study abroad. Learn about the cost of living in different countries as well as the different program types offered to better inform your decision. Exchange programs, for example, are especially cost-effective options for in-state Purdue students, because you will pay Purdue tuition while you are enrolled at a host institution. Co-sponsored programs, on the other hand, may be more affordable for out-of-state students. To read more about these differences, please refer to Understanding Study Abroad Costs & Financial Aid

As a CLA student, there are lots of opportunities for study abroad scholarships. Eligibility, application process and deadline, and amounts awarded vary by scholarship. Please note that it's important to apply for scholarships early. These include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Purdue Moves: semester-long study abroad

- Purdue Moves: short-term study abroad

- Study Abroad Intercultural Leadership (SAIL) Scholarship

- College of Liberal Arts specific scholarships

There are also other opportunities for study abroad funding through program-specific scholarships and additional general scholarships that require an application.

Most Purdue financial aid may be applied to semester and academic year Purdue-approved programs. Talk to an advisor in the Division of Financial Aid to determine if your financial aid and/or scholarships apply to your preferred study abroad program.
