Swati Srivastava joins Purdue as an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science and a faculty fellow in the Cornerstone Integrated Liberal Arts program.
Prior to joining the faculty at Purdue, Srivastava was an assistant professor of global politics at Humboldt State University and a Doctoral Fellow with the Andrew Mellon Foundation and the American Council of Learned Societies. She received her Ph.D. in political science from Northwestern University, where she held graduate affiliations with the Buffett Institute for Global Studies and the Center for Legal Studies. She holds a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in political science and global studies from UCLA. She also served a one-year AmeriCorps term with Public Allies.
Srivastava's research focuses on how hybrid public and private relations produce power in global politics. She has three ongoing research projects. One examines sovereign power in security contractors, business associations, and NGOs. Another investigates the English East India Company as a great power. Finally, her latest project explores global corporate power and political responsibility.
