Clotilde Landais received a Ph.D. in comparative literature from the Université Paris III – Sorbonne Nouvelle, an M.A. and B.A. in French and comparative literature from the Université de Tours, an M.A. in teaching French as a second language from the Université de Tours, and a dual M.A. in French and German literatures from Bowling Green State University. She teaches French courses – notably Business French – and comparative literature courses, such as “The Stories of Stephen King.”

Dr. Landais’ research explores genre fiction – especially fantastic fiction and high fantasy – through the lens of postmodernism and translation theories. Her recent research projects address the translation of the feeling of fear in North American and Caribbean horror fiction. She notably published articles in the Colloque de Cerisy series, in @nalyses, and in the Oxford journal Literary Imagination among her many published book chapters and articles. She also published the monograph Stephen King as a Postmodern Author (Peter Lang Publishing, 2013).

Prior to accepting at position at Purdue, she worked as Director of Translation at Brangelonne Publishing in Paris and taught French and Francophone literatures at the University de La Sorbonne in Paris, at Pepperdine University in Lausanne, Switzerland, and at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
