Danielle Kane joins Purdue as an assistant professor of sociology and faculty fellow in the Cornerstone Integrated Liberal Arts program.

Kane received a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania. She teaches courses on gender and society, introductory sociology, global sociology, and sociological theory.

Her current project, conducted with a collaborator, is a large-scale interview study of the role of gender and family in the transition to adulthood in China. She has also done work on religion and geopolitics in East Asia. Her work has appeared in Current Sociology, the American Journal of Sociology, Poetics, the American Review of Chinese Studies, and the Writing Center Journal.
