Welcome to Fall 2017!

Fall Semester classes begin August 21—and we are already looking forward to all the excitement that the new school year brings! With just a month to go until the semester begins, we hope you're ready to get out your planners and fire up those calendar apps. If you want to get holiday, break, and other dates plugged in ahead of time, check out Purdue's Academic Calendar.

For returning students: please remember that the syllabus review deadline has been pushed to Monday, August 7 at noon EDT.

For all students teaching this fall: mandatory ICaP Convocation is noon to 4:30pm on Friday August 18 in WALC 1018 (the new building north-north-west of Heavilon).

New grad students: we are so glad you're here.

Welcome to Purdue! We are eager to meet you and to help answer all your questions. You may be excitedly thinking about coursework, wondering about your composition students, or even worrying about where to get the best coffee on campus. Don't worry: we can help with all of that. Browse the information we've compiled here to start. We'll help you take care of the rest during Orientation (August 14-18).

Convocation Information

For all students teaching this fall: mandatory ICaP Convocation is noon to 4:30pm on Friday August 18 in WALC 1018 (the new building north-north-west of Heavilon). Professor Dilger and his team have worked hard to prepare workshops, in addition to the usual syllabus caucuses and general group session. Be sure to regularly check your email for more updates.

Graduate School Prep: The links you might need

You may want to download and print a campus map ahead of time (having a print copy may help with potential construction delays in the weeks before classes start). The Purdue Graduate School Home Page provides lots of information to help you get situated, but the most helpful might be their checklist, which allows you to take a step-by-step approach to working through your to-do items.

Get your grad manual here!

Never be without your Grad Manual!

Paper copies are always available in the Graduate Office (HEAV 304), too.

And get a PDF version of our 2017-18 Graduate Manual for Teaching Students.

Local areas, maps, and hot spots

Learn more about the West Lafayette area, see maps of the parks in our area, and check out downtown Lafayette, as well.

You may have heard that Purdue, its surrounding neighborhood streets, and many other areas in town are getting majorly renovated—and that's resulted in some construction and traffic woes. Take a look at the plans and affected areas, if you want to (try to) avoid delays.

If you're new to town, you may be in dire need of a new bookstore to spend those last few lazy summer days. There's no better place than Von's Books. Located right off campus, the series of Von's Shops that line State Street include a record shop, clothing and jewelry, and yes: new and used books. (Be sure to check out the basement!)
