Music History
Gary Sudano has been Professor of Music at Purdue since 1982. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in music at Illinois State University, and a doctorate at the University of Illinois. Prior to coming to Purdue, he was a member of the faculty at Illinois State for twelve years.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he has held a number of administrative positions, including those of Assistant and Associate Chair and Director of Graduate Programs in the School of Music at Illinois State, Director of Grants and Special Programs for the College of Fine Arts at Illinois State, and Head of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Purdue.
His writings have been published in the Music Educators Journal, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Humanities Journal, The Canadian Music Educator, Contemporary Education, Interdisciplinary Perspectives, The Journal of General Education, the Encyclopedia of Education, and others.
