Aline Beatriz Coutinho is a PhD student in History at Purdue University. She has a master’s degree in Political History and a specialization in Gender and Sexuality from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). Her research focuses on reproductive issues, particularly the political disputes over abortion and their intertwining with reproductive justice in Brazil and the US. 

Coutinho is a researcher associated with the Pregnancy, Abortion, and Reproductive Rights Research Collective (PARC Lab) at Purdue University, with the Gender Studies Working Group – National Association of Brazilian History/ANPUH – Rio de Janeiro section and with the COMUM Lab: Modernities, Modes of the Past and Narrative Experiences at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. She is also a founding member of the Network of Researchers on Abortion for the Right to Decide in Brazil (REPAD). Furthermore, Coutinho is a feminist activist and member of the NGO Rede Feminista Nacional de Saúde – Direitos Sexuais e Direitos Reprodutivos and the National Campaign for the Legalization of Abortion in Brazil (FNPLA).

She is working under the guidance of Dr. Wendy Kline.
