Brett Bogart is a Lecturer of Italian at Purdue. He received his doctorate in anthropology from Purdue University after conducting ethnographic research in Naples, Italy, research exploring the impact of globalizing processes on local Neapolitan identity. For many years he has taught courses in anthropology and in other social sciences while also teaching Italian language courses at Purdue, at various levels. His anthropological background informs his approach to issues of intercultural communicative competence (ICC) which constitute a central core of Italian language courses at Purdue.
Brett is also co-organizer and -leader of a study abroad program based in Milan, Italy. The program is the product of a collaboration between Purdue’s Italian Department and Purdue’s GEARE program for engineering students.
