Lambda Pi Eta
LPE is a national communication honor society to encourage and reward scholastic excellence in communication, as well as to promote professional development and discourse.
Membership requirements are successful completion of GPA requirement, 45+ hours of undergraduate credits, a minimum cumulative of 3.0 and a minimum GPA in communication classes of a 3.25. Students still in pre-communication can participate as probationary members.

Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)
PRSSA is a national organization that offers practical, hands-on experiences in real-life situations by sponsoring events and PR speakers. One event the sponsors is Communication Day, a two-day workshop in January offering students a chance to learn the latest tips from PR professionals and a chance to participate in a career fair.

Students can participate in a student-run PR firm. Clients include organizations in Lafayette and Indiana. Tentative clients for this fall include YMCA, Operation Christmas Child, Golden Steps. Membership is by application and students earn internship credit. This has been changed to COM 491.

Petticrew Debate Forum
Established through an endowment by C. Richard Petticrew, a 1926 Purdue graduate in chemical engineering who was a national debate champion, the forum provides all students with opportunities to develop their speaking skills through workshops, individual coaching and contests on the Purdue campus and at other university competitions in speech and debate events.

American Advertising Federation (AAF)
AAF is an organization designated to give students, regardless of major, hands-on experience in the advertising profession. AAF is the oldest national advertising trade association and acts as the “unifying voice for advertising”. Work involves preparing advertising campaigns from the beginning stages of research through to final
implementation and evaluation.
Students in this organization gain experience in electronic media. The focus is on everything electronic – from radio to television to documentary. They create videos for other organizations on campus.
