Anita Verheul is an Executive Vice President at William Gallagher Associates (WGA) in the Employee Benefits Group. Since joining the company in 1995, she has been responsible for managing and advising clients with respect to their employee benefit programs. Ms. Verheul specializes in large, multi-state, self-funded accounts. Her responsibilities include knowledge of current industry trends, products, developments, various funding arrangements and legislation affecting group life, health and disability programs. Ms. Verheul uses her knowledge to help clients analyze, strategize and implement effective employee benefit programs to fit a particular employee base and management philosophy. In addition to her client responsibilities, she also co-manages the Account Executive staff within the Employee Benefits Group, manages high-level relationships and acts as an account advisor for large clients.
Ms. Verheul began her insurance career in 1986 as a Service Representatie at Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company, working with accounts in the New England region. She then moved to the brokerage industry when she came to work for the AON companies of Rollins Burdick Hunter and Godwins Booke and Dickenson as a consultant. At these firms, her work focused on mid and large-size clients in a wide variety of manufacturing and service industries.
A licensed Life and Health insurance broker, Ms. Verheul has also successfully completed Group Life and Health courses A, B, and C through the Health Insurance Associate of America and is currently pursuing her Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation. She is an active member of the New England Employee Benefits Council (NEEBC) and is a member of the Greater Boston Chapter of the International CEBS Society. A frequent speaker at company and industry engagements. Ms. Verheul was honored to be a presenter at MIT's First Annual Women in Business and Technology Symposium.
Ms. Verheul received her undergraduate degree from Purdue University. She was an avid rower, and moved to Boston to continue rowing. She received the Presidential Award from the Riverside Boat Club, where she held leadership positions including, Regatta Director, Treasurer, and Board of Directors member for many years.
Now, when she has free time, she enjoys yoga, running, making jewelry and knitting. Ms. Verheul also loves spending time with her two daughters, especially, bike riding and going to the movies or the beach.
