Earl Major is the Director for HR Practices and Policy at Humana. Earl was appointed to this position in September of 2008. Prior to this most recent appointment, Earl was Human Resources Business Leader for Commercial Sales for Humana, Inc., a position he held when joining Humana in August of 2007 In his current role, Earl has responsibility for HR Policy development and implementation, internally and externally, in addition to best practice research on HR programs and practices within and without Humana.
Prior to Humana, Earl spent the bulk of his 20 years of experiences in the Pharmaceutical industry, starting his career with Eli Lilly and Company in the late 1980s. After leaving Lilly, Earl worked for Pharmacia Corporation, and with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals following their acquisition of Pharmacia. He has held both Human Resources and Line Management roles during the course of his career.
Earl received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Purdue University. Purdue also awarded Earl a master’s degree in management in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. He is a member Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key National Honor Societies. Earl is also a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR, as designated by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).
A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Earl is the proud father of five children, and resides in Oldham County, Kentucky, where he enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with his wife, Tricia, and family.
