  • Lisa Lee Peterson is a professor in the Department of Art and Design in the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA, where she has been teaching fiber arts and textile design for twenty-five years. Before coming to Purdue, she was a jacquard textile designer and production manager for Boris Kroll Fabrics and Jack Lenor Larsen in New York City. Her research focuses on the analysis of pre-industrial woven textile structures: she devises techniques to recreate these structures on contemporary hand and jacquard looms for application in contemporary textile art.  Examination of 2000-yr-old Chinese textiles led Professor Peterson to explore contemporaneous poetry that breathed life into the disintegrating specimens and revealed the lives of the ancient weavers of China. Her artistic work expresses various aspects of life as a working woman, mother, wife, and as an Asian American in a predominantly Euro American culture. Lisa has lectured and exhibited her textile work in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
