Argelia Hernández

Born in Mexico City, Mexico

Argelia Hernández earned her B.A. in Visual Arts from the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Mexico). She is currently pursuing an MFA at Purdue University, Indiana (USA). Argelia has shown her work both in Mexico and abroad, participating in different biennials and art shows. Among these are the IV and V National Biennial of Visual Arts of Yucatan, Mexico, and the VII National painting and Printmaking Alfredo Zalce Biennial. She was awarded with the Young creators 2010 – 2011 Artistic Production Grant of the National Foundation of the Culture and Arts, Mexico. Argelia’s work is focused on the relationship between people and their surroundings, and explores the concepts of memory, space appropriation, and place attachment.
