Study Abroad

There are many opportunities for students to study in France or in Francophone countries. Location (France, Canada, Morocco) as well as duration of stay (one week to one year) varies according to program. We encourage all of our undergraduates to plan to study abroad during the course of their program at Purdue.

Undergraduates have three options:

a) Faculty-taught courses.  Professor Jessica Sturm offers FR 380, French Food Culture, with spring break study abroad to l'Ecole des Trois Ponts in Roanne, France, during even Spring semesters.  During odd Spring semesters, Professor Sturm, along with Professor Jen William of the Department of German and Russian, will offer FR 380/GER 498 Sport and Spectacle in Europe, with a spring break study abroad in Berlin and Paris. Please contact Professor Sturm ( ) for more details.

Associate Professor Nadège Veldwachter offers a program during the summer in Paris. For the Association of Friends of French Scholarship for Study Abroad, please use this application. The application is inactive as the deadline has passed, Feb. 22, 2019.

b) Programs offered through the Purdue Study Abroad office (for example, programs in Paris, Strasbourg, Grenoble, Nantes, and Lyon). For a list of programs in France, please see:

c) Internships (business, teaching, and volunteer) offered through the student-run AIESEC. Present in over 107 countries and territories and with over 50,000 members, AIESEC is the world’s largest student-run organization. In America, we are focused on providing a platform for youth leadership development. AIESEC US offers young people the opportunity to be global citizens, to change the world, and to get experience and skills that matter today.
