Call for Papers: Exploring Space in the Middle Ages 2018 Medieval Association of the Midwest Conference, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN We invite submissions of abstracts (c. 250 words) for the 2018 Medieval Association of the Midwest Conference, to be held at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, October 4-6, 2018. The Middle Ages are broadly perceived conceptually in the cultural imagination, as occupying a place “in the middle” of bookend periods. The perception, recognition, and analysis of space in relation to this period of time covers a wide range of topics, including, but not restricted to: Space and nation Space, place and identity Extra-terrestrial space The Body in space Cartography Space beyond the senses Digital humanities projects involving space Occupying space Textual space Sound and space in the context of acoustics Medievalisms: creating a new medieval space We also welcome abstracts on topics which are not directly related to the theme of the conference.
