Purdue to be Featured as Part of C-SPAN's Cities Tour

The C-SPAN tour, which is traveling to selected cities to feature the history and literary life of each area, stopped in Lafayette and West Lafayette Monday through Thursday (Nov. 17-20). C-SPAN crews interviewed local historians, authors and civic leaders for segments that will air on C-SPAN2 and C-SPAN3 on Dec. 20-21.

The Brian Lamb School Celebrates the Remodeled Digital Media Production Center with Open House

The Brian Lamb School of Communication celebrated the renovation of its Digital Media Production Center with an open house. The open house highlighted how the studio is used on a daily basis.

The Lamb School's 3-Year Major Receives $500,000 University Prize

The Brian Lamb School of Communication has received a $500,000 university prize for its creation of a new three-year degree that will help students save money by completing their degrees more quickly. The prize, funded through the Purdue president's office, is the culmination of a university-wide challenge that President Mitch Daniels issued an open letter from January. The program, Think 3 Years!, begins this fall. The accelerated plan of study requires the same number of total credit hours, 120, as the four-year plan for either general communication, public relations and strategic communication, mass communication, corporate communication, and human relations. The four-year program is still available.

Ralph Webb Appointed Faculty Ombudsperson

Ralph Webb, professor of communication, will become the first faculty ombudsperson effective August 18. Webb will be an independent mediator in disputes that involve faculty members. He will listen confidentially to faculty members' concerns and will help in informal efforts to address them. He will create a dialogue between the faculty and Purdue University offices and administrators.
