Analyzing video from the C-SPAN Archives

Presenter: Edward J. Delp, Purdue University

Professor Edward Delp, Purdue University School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, will conduct this introductory workshop on how video is organized and ways that it can be analyzed for a wide range of uses in a variety of fields and interdisciplinary research. This workshop will form the basis for other workshops on video.

Video Analysis of Congressional Behavior

February 28, 2022

Presenter: Bryce Dietrich, University of Iowa

Assistant Professor Bryce Dietrich of the University of Iowa will present this workshop on analyzing Congressional behavior with novel quantitative, automated, and machine learning methods using non-traditional data sources such as audio (or speech) data and video data. Learn about these innovative techniques to understand the causes and consequences of non-verbal cues and elite emotional expressions in a variety of institutional settings.

Introduction to Audio Analysis

March 25, 2022

3:00 pm - 4:30 pm Via Zoom

Presenter: Christopher Lucas, Washington University in St. Louis

Assistant Professor Christopher Lucas, of Washington University, will conduct this workshop on audio processing and analysis. He will demonstrate methodological advancements in the analysis of nontextual cues in speech. Using the model of speech and audio structure (MASS) this workshop will demonstrate what we can learn about political behavior from audio analysis.
