Maria Venetis (Ph.D., Rutgers) joined the faculty in August 2012 and will teach Interpersonal and health communication courses. Venetis’s primary research interests include physician-patient interactions and how communication-participation behaviors during medical visits are associated with patient psychosocial outcomes.

Matei Receives NSF Grant and Named Discovery Park Research Fellow
Professor Sorin Matei is the PI (with C. Liu, E. Bertino, & Y M Zhu) of a new ($179,000) National Science Foundation (2012 BCC-SBE/HER) award project entitled "KredibleNet - Building a research community and proposing a research agenda for the study and modeling of reputation and authority across informal knowledge markets”.
Matei has also been selected as a Discovery Park Research Fellow. As a research fellow, Professor Matei will work on various interdisciplinary projects in the Spring of 2013. A major goal of the program is to establish collaborative networks between Discovery Park and the academic units to create new opportunities to enable faculty to significantly advance Purdue research and technology through innovative ideas and novel approaches. The program focuses on faculty (tenure-track/tenured and clinical) at all academic ranks who wish to create new collaborations, which they envision will benefit from the interactive environment, facilities and personnel available in Discovery Park.
