Graduate Minor

M.A. 9 cr. hrs.
Ph.D. 12 cr. hrs.

The Women's Studies Graduate Minor is designed to provide students with grounding in the knowledge, theories, and methods of a variety of approaches in feminist scholarship. The program seeks to transcend the traditional boundaries among the disciplines and to offer students opportunities for systematic study of gender and women's experiences in all fields of knowledge.

Requirements for an interdisciplinary graduate minor in Women's Studies include:

A core course in Feminist Theory and Methodology (WOST 680) for both M.A. and Ph.D. students.

Ph.D. students are required to take a second core course in Contemporary Issues in Feminist Scholarship (WOST 681).

Beyond the core courses, students may choose electives from courses listed by the Women's Studies Program, according to their research interests.

To register for a graduate minor certificate, send a letter of intent and a copy of your plan of study to:

Dr. Valentine M. Moghadam, Director
Women's Studies Program
6164 BRNG

Once you've completed the requirements, submit a transcript to the same address as above. Your file will be evaluated by the Director of Women's Studies; if all courses are in order, the grad minor certificate will then be awarded.
