Guidelines for Selection of Graduate Assistants for Academic Year Funding

1. Criteria for Selection (not in rank order)

Renewals

  • Progress in academic program of study
  • Demonstrated commitment/teaching/service to Women's Studies Program
  • Application for or received Women's Studies graduate minor certificate
  • Program need
  • Financial need and alternative sources of funding

New Student

  • Commitment to, knowledge of, interest in gender and Women's Studies
  • Application for or received Women's Studies graduate minor certificate
  • Program need
  • Financial need and alternative sources of funding

 

2. Application Procedure

  • Cover letter
  • Application Form
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Copy of transcripts and GPA

 

3. Length of Graduate Assistant Funding

  • Graduate Assistants may receive a maximum of 6 years funding from Women's Studies, but not more than a combined total of 8 years of funding from all Purdue departments and programs
  • Graduate Assistants may petition for continuation of funding beyond these limits by requesting a review of their academic progress and providing a written rationale to the Women's Studies Director and Advisory Committee.
