Mission Statement

The Women's Studies Program is dedicated to the scholarly understanding of diversity, difference, and commonality in women's experiences and to the diffusion of knowledge about the gender dynamics of economic, political, cultural, and social institutions, policies, and movements.  Our Program integrates the teaching of theories and methods with a concern for women's autonomy, participation, and rights; as such, our curriculum is infused with attention to both public policy and women's own activism.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Women's Research and Policy Center was established to complement the teaching strengths of the Women's Studies Program and involve faculty and graduate students in funded research, cross-disciplinary and international collaborations, consultancies, and policy dialogues. The Center will respond to national and international demand for academic and policy-oriented research on women and gender issues; enhance the University's global profile; and recognize and nurture the leadership skills of women faculty and students. As such, the Women's Research and Policy Center is consistent with the three principal goals of the Women's Studies Action and Strategic Plan (2007-2012):
 1.  Launching tomorrow's feminist leaders
 2.  Promoting feminist inquiry and research
 3.  Engaging with various publics.
