Mission

The Purdue University Galleries provide high-quality visual art exhibitions and programming to enhance the educational mission of the University, to enrich the aesthetic environment of the University community, and to serve as a cultural resource for the Greater Lafayette public.

Through the presentation of exhibits, lectures and special events and through the acquisition, preservation and interpretation of the permanent art collection, the galleries provide a wide variety of artistic and educational experiences to stimulate an understanding and appreciation of art.

“I truly believe that the arts, in all their magnificent forms of beauty, must have a prominent place wherever and whenever people gather to ask the profound questions of the ages. The gallery is the learning environment, the archive and the studio of the lively and liberating mind.”
—Robert L. Ringel, former Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs, at the dedication of the gallery in his name

The Purdue University Galleries are sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts with additional support form the Purdue Student Union Board and the Friends of the Galleries. The galleries are located in several locations on the main campus in West Lafayette, Indiana, and all are handicap accessible.
