Laszlo Matulay: Images for Words
Robert L. Ringel Gallery, Purdue Memorial Union
March 25, 2002 through April 28, 2002
From March 25 through April 28, 2002, we renew a longstanding professional relationship that has benefited the Galleries for many years. Dr. and Mrs. Alfred Bader have generously presented a portion of their extensive collection in exhibitions at Purdue every 5 years since the early 1980’s. Laszlo Matulay: Images for Words is sponsored by the Baders in celebration of the 90th birthday of Purdue Professor Emeritus and Nobel Prize laureate Dr. Herbert C. Brown. It presents a record of this artist’s lifelong challenge to create art through illustration and personal observation, perhaps best evidenced by a portfolio of studies created during his daily experiences in World War II and an illustrated book of his life. Illustrated books and artworks are being loaned from the artist’s estate and the Baders’ collection.
