Esteban Garcia
Esteban Garcia is a new media artist from Bogotá, Colombia. He earned a BFA in Time Based and Electronic Media from Los Andes University in Bogotá (2003) and an MFA in Electronic and Time Based Art from Purdue University (2008), West Lafayette, Indiana (United States). Garcia is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Graphics at Purdue, developing interactive artworks that make use of computer vision technologies in meaningful ways for public participants. This research has been recently awarded a fellowship from the Purdue School of Technology for its development.
Garcia’s work has already been recognized internationally based on his participation on artistic workshops, awarded residencies (Colombia and Venezuela), and curated art shows including: KM0 Urbano (Bolivia), Testigos (México), Salón Nacional de Artistas 2008 (Colombia).
His work as a VJ is also known for extensive collaboration with musicians in numerous artistic venues across the United States and Colombia.
