ETB graduate student Mara Battiste has a solo exhibition at the El Norteño gallery in Bloomington, IN from September 23 to November 23, 2012.

ETB alumni Aaron Nemec and Jordan Cleland have been selected to create a collaborative artwork for Installation Nation. The exhibition takes place on June 15th and 16th at Service Center, 3819 Lafayette Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46254.

The Board of Trustees of Purdue University has approved Fabian Winkler’s promotion to Associate Professor of Visual and Performing Arts, effective August 13, 2012. (See: faculty promotions for 2012).

"Digital Stimulation" a new work of first year ETB graduate student Paul McCormick has been included in the 2012 Kinsey Institute Juried Art Show. The exhibition runs from May 18 – July 21, 2012 at Indiana University's Grunwald Gallery, 1201 E 7th St, Bloomington, IN.

Shannon McMullen is giving a lecture - "Aesthetic Acts" - in the Purdue American Studies Spring Lecture Series. Friday, April 27, 2:00-3:00pm, Beering Hall 1222.

Shannon McMullen and Fabian Winkler are currently preparing for the installation of a large-scale public artwork, the National Security Garden, in front of the townhall of the city of Singen/Htwl. in Germany. This project, to be on display from late May – October 2012, will be accompanied by workshops and a symposium to actively involve the public.

Shannon McMullen is a participant in the 2012 CIC Digital Humanities Summit at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, April 19-20, 2012.

ETB graduate student Mara Battiste exhibits her work at the 2012 National Society of Arts and Letters Emerging Artists Show. Old National Bank/Monroe Bank Theatre Art Gallery, 275 North Jordan Avenue, Bloomington, IN. Opening reception: April 5, 5:30-8:00pm. Opening hours: April 6, 5:00-8:00pm and April 7, 1:00-4:00pm. Battiste also won the Nelda Christ Merit Awardas part of this exhibition.

ETB Assistant Professor Shannon McMullen and Engineering Education Associate Professor Robin Adams co-host a discussion with Dr. Louis Bucciarelli, Professor of Engineering & Technology Studies, Emeritus, MIT on Design as a Social Process. Fabian Winkler and Daniel Sauter exhibit their collaborative work In the Line of Sight at the Mois Multi festival in Québec City, Canada, February 15 - 29, 2012. Their participation in the Mois Multi festival also includes teaching a master class on February 17 and giving a public lecture on February 18, 2012.

ETB alumnus Aaron Nemec's Pronoun Trilogy will be featured at Radio Arts Space, CONA Institute for Contemporary Arts Processing, Ljubljana, Slovenia from December 7-15, 2011.

Fabian Winkler published his paper Regarding Terror: The German Autumn and Contemporary Art, a contribution to Purdue's Re-Visioning Terrorism conference in September 2011 through Purdue University libraries e-pubs system.

Shannon McMullen and Fabian Winkler are exhibiting The Elocuter at Waveforms, Grunwald Gallery of Art, Indiana University, October 21- November 12, 2011. They will also participate in a panel discussion before the exhibition's reception on Friday, October 21, 2011.

ETB alumnus Aaron Nemec is a featured artist at the 2011 VIA Music & New Media fest in Pittsburgh, PA, October 5-9 & 16, 2011. This will be the premiere of his work Bass Rally 2 a participatory performance in public space. Find Bass Rally locations in PGH via twitter.

A cross-disciplinary discussion of data visualization involving Purdue faculty and students from engineering, science and liberal arts is the goal of a series of workshops organized by Shannon McMullen taking place from 7-8 p.m. Tuesdays Sept. 13 through Oct. 4 at the Envision Center for Data Perceptualization, located off the tunnel between the Purdue Memorial Union and the Stewart Center. The visualization sessions likewise will examine data visualization from scientific, technical and artistic perspectives with an eye to breaking new ground in the field.See also: Kline Greg.
