Although some college majors, such as Engineering or Nursing, will provide students with skills needed for “specific” entry level careers, the majority of majors will provide general knowledge and skills related to an area of interest and desire. You will develop this knowledge through class attendance, readings, assignments, projects and exams. Keep in mind that classroom knowledge alone will not guarantee you a successful career in your area of study. You must develop many other "professional" qualities in order to become successful in your future endeavors.

Liberal Arts Advising and Career Development have put together a "Professional Development Plan" with suggestions and recommendations beginning with Freshman Year and ending with Senior year. This plan is meant as a guide to assist students in developing themselves professionally.
