Career Options for Liberal Arts Majors

Although some college majors, such as Engineering or Nursing, will provide students with skills needed for “specific” entry level careers, the majority of majors will provide general knowledge and skills related to an area of interest and desire. Students develop this knowledge through class attendance, readings, assignments, projects and exams.  Keep in mind that classroom knowledge alone will not guarantee students a successful career in any area of study.  Many of the skills and qualities desired by employers are greatly enhanced by out of classroom experiences. So, along with the transferrable skills developed simply by being a Liberal Arts major, participation in activities and opportunities outside the classroom will help tremendously.
