Barbara Soodek came to the Academic Success Center in 1987 with a variety of teaching experiences. Her most recent, prior to Purdue, was as an instructor at Saint Louis Community College - Meramac, a community college with a diverse population.

Presently Barbara teaches courses in learning strategies, vocabulary development, and a paired class with introductory psychology, works in curriculum development, and assists walk-in students. She is a member of PACADA, its membership committee and chair of its awards committee.

Her hobbies include reading (as one might expect of a reading specialist), traveling, gardening, and gourmet cooking.

Here's what Barbara's students say:

This course helped me receive better grades in my classes.

This course was helpful for other classes, and I expanded my vocabulary.

I liked that the instructor knew you by name and cared if you weren't in class.

Barbara enjoys hearing from the academic advisers and faculty involved with her students. Give her a call if you have questions or concern.
