How A Global Religion Become Localized

by

Dr. Peter Tze Ming NG

4:30 — 5:45 p.m.
University Hall 303

In 1807, the first Protestant missionary arrived in China. By 1952, all Christian missionaries were driven out of China under Communist rule. Is the ending of the missionary era the “judgment of God,” as claimed by some Chinese and Western Christian leaders? What is the experience of Chinese Christianity in the last 55 years?

Professor Ng is Director of the Center for the Study of Religion and Chinese Society at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He earned his Ph.D. in 1985 from the University of London Institute of Education .
