Rachel Einwohner is one of two recipients of the Departmental Educational Excellence Award in the College of Liberal Arts for the 2007-2008 academic year.
Rachel L. Einwohner has received a grant from the National Science Foundation in the amount of $123,260 for her project, "Explaining Collective Action Under Extreme Circumstances."
Fenggang Yang has established The Center on Religion and Chinese Society (CRCS) at Purdue University. A symposium was held in April, 2008, to celebrate the founding of the center and illustrate some of its primary research directions.
The CRCS will be organizing the Beijing Summit on Chinese Spirituality and Society October 9-11, 2008, in collaboration with Peking University with the support of the Templeton Foundation and Purdue University.
J. Jill Suitor has received a $1.8 million 5-year grant to Purdue from the National Institute on Aging to continue her project (with co-PI Karl Pillemer, Cornell University) on Within-Family Differences in Parent-Adult Child Relations.
Brian C. Kelly has been awarded $152,500 from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) for his project "Emerging Trends in Tryptamine Use: Contexts & Risks".
JoAnn L. Miller has been elected as President-Elect of the SSSP 2008.
Professor JoAnn Miller has been selected as the new Associate Dean for Interdisciplinary Programs and Engagement. This is an important and highly visible administrative position within the College of Liberal Arts. JoAnn Miller is an excellent choice for this position, especially with her excellent record of engagement activities. This full-time administrative appointment will start this summer (2008) for an initial five year term.
