Dean Miller joined the Purdue faculty in 1984. Her most current book, with the Hon. Donald C. Johnson, is titled Problem Solving Courts.  It was on display at the ASA and SSSP book exhibits is August, 2010.  Based on its Library of Congress classification, it is the 1st  ranked book among all the books in the world on problem solving courts. Dean Miller is the immediate past president of the Society for the Study of Social Problems.  Her presidential address, “Social Justice Work:  Purpose Driven Social Science,” is published in the February, 2011 issue of Social Problems. With Robert Perrucci, she co-edited Contemporary Sociology for two terms.  Professor Perrucci and she edited Social Problems for three years.  She was elected to a three year term (2011-2014) for the Editorial and Publications Committee, SSSP. Dean Miller has worked at the University of Hamburg and the University of Indonesia.  Over the last three years she was awarded Department of Justice grants, a Health and Services grant, Indiana Housing and Community Development / Housing and Urban Development grants, and a Duke Energy foundation grant.  Grantees are the City of Lafayette and the United Way of Greater Lafayette.
