Speech Acoustics Laboratory
David Ertmer, Ph.D. Director
The Speech Acoustics Laboratory (SAL) is housed in Heavilon G-5 and shares space with one of the department’s multi-user research laboratories. Together, these labs contain a variety of speech acquisition, analysis, and digital storage equipment. A single-wall IAC booth is available for hearing testing, making stimuli recordings, and data collection. A Computerized Speech Lab (Kay CSL 5500) is used to digitize audio recordings at high sampling rates. Two computer workstations with Kay Multispeech software and CSPEECH are used for acoustic analysis and data storage. Computers are equipped with Iomega Zip drives. Video playback equipment is also available.
