Professor Jeanette Leonard is a clinical professor in the Department.  She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in both Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is also a member of the Inaugural Cadre of Child Language Specialists. Professor Jeanette Leonard also maintains a professional license in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology as well as teaching certification in the State of Indiana.

Professor Jeanette Leonard's clinical background has included experience in a variety of settings:  a consultant for a language stimulation program in a community day care system, a speech pathologist in a public school setting, a speech pathologist in an acute care facility for emotionally disturbed children, and a hearing clinician and educational audiologist in a large public school program for hearing impaired children.

With strong clinical interests in speech and language disorders in normal hearing and hearing impaired children, Professor Jeanette Leonard's activities at Purdue are varied.  She coordinates the off-campus multidisciplinary preschool communication intervention program, working in conjunction with an early childhood specialist.  She supervises graduate practicum in speech-language pathology and co-supervises aural habilitation practicum with a member of the Audiology faculty. She co-teaches the clinical practicum courses along with the other members of the clinical faculty. She remains highly interested in communication intervention, cooperative service delivery and clinical training.
