How to access your J: drive from off campus
These instructions describe how to access ITaP network drives (such as a home directory or share drive) from Apple-based computers, which may or may not be connected to the “ONEPURDUE” domain. These may include off-campus computers, classroom computers, and/or ITaP lab computers.
If you are already on campus utilizing these instructions you do not have to setup a VPN connection before connecting to the server.
If you are utilizing these instructions from off campus i.e. a laptop or desktop you use off campus you will need to be connected to the Purdue Data Network, via Purdue’s Virtual Private Network. Instructions can be found here.
Getting Started
1. Once you are logged onto your apple computer, select the Go Menu then choose Connect to server.
2. Entering Network Server Information
In order to connect to any ITaP Server you will have to have your department number.

The path you need to access your “J” drive will consist of the following…
smb://itifs05.itap.purdue.edu/cla_homedirs/departmentnumber/career account login.
For example… smb://itifs05.itap.purdue.edu/cla_homedirs/1350/purduepete
|
Please Note: When mapping your drive, replace departmentnumber/career account login with your department number and career account login. |
Feel free to call 66333 or email ithelp@purdue.edu to obtain the full path you will need to specify to be able to access the drive.

Using the above method of Go/Connect To Server one is also able to connect to the ITaP home directory. To connect enter the below
smb://offcampus.ics.purdue.edu/put your username here

Once done entering the server information either for ITaP servers or ICS Servers hit the connect button.
3. Entering Credentials to Connect to Server
After clicking on the connect button another box will appear if your machine is not connected to the onepurdue domain. It is within this box that you need to enter your career account login and password information. Please note that career account login and password are needed to connect to either ITaP (onepurdue) or ITaP career account drive resources.

Once you are done entering your login information select the ok button and the drive will be visible on your desktop. Once connected you will be able to explore and have the option to save to your network drive area. An example of how the drive once mapped looks is shown below.

It can also be found under a finder window as seen below…
