Research

"Research is formalized curiosity.  It is poking and prying with a purpose."

External Support for CLA Faculty

Faculty seeking external funding can obtain information about funding sources using the Community of Science (COS) database, which contains over 25,000 records of funding opportunities worth over $33 billion. Although many records in the database are for funding in the physical and life sciences, many others are for funding in the arts, the humanities, or the behavioral and social sciences. In October 2009 Sue Grimes from the Office of the Vice President for Research gave a presentation on COS for CLA faculty. Sue explainied how to use the COS database to find sources of funding for research, scholarship, and creative endeavors. She also explained how Purdue faculty can use the database to identify other faculty at Purdue or at other institutions who have similar interests and who might be interested in working together on larger projects. Sue's PowerPoint from that presentation can be viewed by clicking HERE
