Prospective Students
Madison
Madison is a second-year student from Zionsville, Indiana (her hometown is Seattle, Washington). She is double majoring in American Studies and History with minors in Anthropology and Spanish. Madison rock climbs with the Purdue Outing Club and is part of the Community Standards Board. She was a Dammon Dean's Scholar.
Madison chose her major because it allows her to explore and synthesize a wide variety of interests. She explains, "American Studies is the perfect major for me because I get to study across disciplines and make the kinds of connections that you really can't in most academic fields. For example, I'm currently working on a paper that connects zombies with U.S. law."
Madison values a liberal arts education because it allows for flexibility and a high level of independence on the student's part.
In the future, Madison would like to become a professor of American Studies. "This way I get to keep learning and doing awesome research for the rest of my life," she says.
