Through the use of rhetorical inquiry and criticism, this panel will address questions of rhetorical importance, language creation and application, symbolic notions in political rhetoric, and apply these findings to contemporary society. In keeping with the conference theme, these papers will convey a break from traditional notions of political rhetoric and will point to the significance of this break for politics in the new century.
