The Writing Site

My name is Samantha Blackmon and I am an Assistant Professor at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. My area of field is Composition and Rhetoric with specialties in Computers and Composition and Minority Rhetoric.

This site started out as one dedicated to the writing of my dissertation. My dissertation project was on Race Theory and Composition Pedagogy. You can learn more about it elsewhere on this site. After the completion of dissertation I decided to continue to maintain this site for many of the same reasons that I initially built it.

This site was born out of a need to dispel the sense of isolation that often comes with writing the dissertation. So rather than seeing this site and its maintenance as another way to waste time I see it as a way to preserve my sanity. On this site you can learn more about me as a scholar and a teacher. If you are lucky you will even get to see me working hard (or hardly working). Feel free to look around and email me if you are interested in talking to me about my projects, my teaching, or just to say hello.

Come back as often as you like and stay as long as you please. As this is an organic project it is constantly under construction. I have (in)frequent diary entries on progress that I am making, or not. So come on and cheer me on!!

Thanks for visiting.
