Charlie Lowe at http://kairosnews.org has just given me a new way to waste more time. Knoppix Linux on CD. This distro runs completely from CD without having to be installed on the hard drive. My home desktop, notebook, and school server all all currently either dual booting Windows and Red Hat (or just running Red Hat in the case of the server) but I just can't resist trying this out because I would LOVE to be able to run Linux in the computer classroom. I'm going to try Knoppix out this weekend and if all goes well I can hold that working with Linux workshop that I have been dying to do. Linux is the OS of the future and with Lindows new agreement to license schools for $500 and free unlimited software I think that this is something that new teachers are actually going to have to learn. Sometimes I wonder if we just continue to raise the bar for technology use in the classroom everytime someone gets close to clearing it on a regular basis. Hmmmm....
