Professor Ohlgren is the author of Illuminated Manuscripts: An Index to Selected Bodleian Library Color Reproductions (1977), Illuminated Manuscripts and Books in the Bodleian Library: A Supplemental Index (1978), Insular and Anglo-Saxon Illuminated Manuscripts: An Iconographic Catalogue (1986), Anglo-Saxon Art: Texts and Contexts (1991), Anglo-Saxon Textual Illustration: Photographs of Sixteen Manuscripts with Descriptions and Index (1992), Robin Hood and Other Outlaw Tales (1997), and Medieval Outlaws: Ten Tales in Modern English (1998). He has published articles in Speculum, JEGP, Studies in Iconography, and a host of other journals. His most recent work is on the "materialist philology" of the earliest surviving Robin Hood manuscripts and early printed books. Currently the director of the undergraduate program in Medieval Studies, he regularly teaches Old English and Middle English Literature, Chaucer, Arthurian Literature, and Medieval Outlaw Tales, including Robin Hood.
