"commUNITY"
Asian American photography exhibition at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette
102 S. 10th Street, Lafayette, IN 47905
Along with the Asian American Network of Indiana and Color Tech, the Council on Asian American Studies is proud to support "commUNITY," a provocative photographic exhibition by Lafayette photographer William L. Snyder that documents the realities and experiences of Asian Americans who live, work, and go to school in Greater Lafayette. Through black and white portraits accompanied by brief personal narratives, "commUNITY" investigates the notion of cultural and geographic communities and explores individual identity by deconstructing social, racial, and cultural constructs.
Please see the YouTube video for a sneak peek.
The traveling exhibit will also be displayed July 2010 in the Walnut and Elm Galleries of the West Lafayette Public Library, and April-June, 2011 at the Indianapolis Art Center.

Favorite Purdue Memory: It is hard to narrow down all my fond memories of Purdue to just one, but if I must choose, I would say tailgating before football games.

Favorite Purdue Memory: It is hard to pick just one favorite memory out of four eventful years at Purdue. I would say that delivering my commencement address was one of the most unique experiences I had. It was a tremendous honor and a great way to conclude my undergraduate career. Or rather, from a different perspective, it was a special way to commence my life as a Purdue alumnus.

Favorite Purdue Memory: Hmm...I have one memory of waking up on a weekend during a football home game, and getting together with friends to have waffles for breakfast at Shreve Residence Hall (back when Shreve served food and when waffles were a big thing). I could also mention watching freshmen trying to walk underneath the Math Building with an open umbrella.
