Specialization:

U.S. 20th Century History and African American History.  My research focuses on intersections of race and class and how they have affected African Americans' pursuit of full citizenship in the twentieth century.

 

Biography:

Professor Bynum received his Ph.D. in 2004 from the University of Virginia.  His dissertation was entitled "Fighting for Identity: A. Philip Randolph's Search for Class-Consciousness in the Age of the Harlem Renaissance."
