Scholarships
Enhanced student support will ensure the College’s commitments to attracting the best and brightest students - without regard to economic background - and educating tomorrow's leaders and problem solvers. Following are just a few examples of the importance and impact scholarships provide for a student’s CLA experience:
The Nancy Peterson Internship Scholarship gave Political Science major Amada Parker the opportunity to work as a Department of State intern in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for 10 weeks. The internship was am extremely rewarding experience both educational and from a cultural perspective. Equally important, it provided her with hands on practical experience, which makes her all the more valuable to potential employers.
Movement and Sports Sciences major Chris Kapp received significant benefit from the Warren P. Thayer Scholarship. With the cost of college education increasing steadily, this scholarship helped make Chris’s education more affordable and allowed him to pursue his dreams and launch his career upon graduation.
Ryan Johnson’s CLA Honors Merit Scholarship encouraged him to continue taking honors-level undergraduate courses and to produce high quality work. The bar was raised higher for Ryan through these courses, but the scholarship helped him both financially, and provided him with the confidence to work harder. Scholarships provide a valuable opportunity to encourage students who show particular dedication to their studies and excel even higher.
The Eleanor Breemes Wiley Scholarship allowed Japanese and East Asian Studies major Elizabeth Hamilton a chance to study abroad in Japan. Very passionate about other cultures, the Wiley Scholarship helped Elizabeth financially achieve her educational goals and experience life through another country’s eyes – it was a life changing experience.
